SINGAPORE / UNITED KINGDOM – 22 January 2026. StateSquare Capital today announced the formation of its Portfolio Advisory Council (“PAC”), a group of senior industry leaders established to work alongside StateSquare’s investment and portfolio teams to support disciplined value creation and governance framework across its control investments.
The inaugural PAC brings together John S. Davison (Chair of the Portfolio Advisory Council), Steven Hodge, and Ratan Datta – experienced global operators who have collectively led and governed multi-billion-dollar businesses across consumer, healthcare, industrials, technology, and services.
- John Davison, Chair of the Portfolio Advisory Council, was Chief Executive Officer at Zuellig Pharma, and ekaterra (the Unilever Tea carve-out) and brings extensive board experience, as well as a track record of leading large, complex organisations in top multi-nationals such as Danone and Diageo through turnarounds, transformation and growth.
- Steven Hodge has held senior commercial and operational leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer / Chief Commercial Officer roles at Jabil, overseeing multi-billion-dollar international high-growth revenue platforms. His background spans financial and operational excellence, global supply chains, and execution at scale across industrial and manufacturing environments.
- Ratan Datta is a technology and business services leader who served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Straive (formerly SPi Global), where he led the scaling and transformation of a global, technology-enabled services platform.
The formation of the PAC reflects StateSquare’s conviction that control investing is most effective when capital is paired with deep, operator-level expertise. The Council is designed to engage across the full investment lifecycle – from thematic origination and diligence, through post-investment strategy execution and board-level value creation.
Members of the Portfolio Advisory Council will work closely with StateSquare’s investment professionals and portfolio company leadership teams, including:
- Providing industry insight during investment evaluation and diligence;
- Acting as strategic sparring partners to founders and CEOs;
- Supporting post-investment value creation through board and executive engagement; and
- Advising on leadership development and organisational strengthening.
The PAC is structured to ensure advisory involvement is practical, timely, and aligned with ownership priorities, reinforcing StateSquare’s hands-on approach to building durable, institutionally strong businesses.
